Edinburgh Clinical Dental Technician Course A UK First
The first stand-alone course for clinical dental technicians in the UK will begin in Edinburgh later this year following provisional approval from the General Dental Council. The course is open to GDC-registered dental technicians. The GDC gave provisional approval to the 37-week course at the Edinburgh Dental Institute at a recent meeting. But full approval won't be given until the course has been inspected by the GDC ahead of the first intake graduating.

Periodontal disease may be an independent predictor of incident Type 2 diabetes, according to a study by researchers at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. BDA Locks Horns With Department Of Health Over Unfair Notice Clause In Dentists' Contracts, UK
The British Dental Association is to challenge a Department of Health legal appeal which if successful could result in dentists' contracts being ended by primary care trusts (PCTs) on as little as one day's notice and with no significant cause. The appeal by the Department of Health is against a ju dicial review judgment in February that ruled it was unlawful for PCTs to include in dentists' contracts clauses which allowed for contracts to be ended for no reason.
